Course Description:

This course was designed to help prepare professional arborists to take the ISA Certified Arborist examination. Nonprofessionals are also welcome to attend the entire course or other sessions to gain a better understanding of the benefits of trees and develop their tree ID and tree care skills. Three years of experience is required to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam. For more information on the exam, please visit www.isa-arbor.com. Course schedule:

  • August 30 Tree Biology, Tree Identification, Soil Science, and Tree Support
  • September 6 Water Management, Tree Nutrition and Fertilization, Tree Selection, Installation and Establishment
  • September 13 Pruning and Oak Wilt, Diagnosis and Plant Disorders, Plant Health Care, and Tree Assessment and Risk Management
  • September 20 Trees and Construction, Urban Forestry, Tree Worker Safety, Climbing and Working in Trees

Topics also address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to certified arborists and relevant to the professional development of the student. Students receive continuing education credits. Approved for 3 CEUs per session for ISA CA, TNLA and Master Gardeners, and 3 hours per session Master Naturalist Advanced Training.

Certified Arbortist Test Preparation Course Fee: $249; includes the Arborist Certification Study Guide (a $115 value).
